The GR15-G has a Peak Reverse Voltage of 1500V with a Fast Recovery Time of 300ns operating at 0.5A. It is manufactured on a glass passivated chip providing high reliability and efficiency and is RoHS compliant. Samples are available now, with full production in 2007.

EIC has expanded their existing Schottky Barrier Rectifier series to include a selection of high voltage devices ranging from 120 to 200V. The new parts range from 3 to 30A and are available in SMB, SMC, TO-220 and ITO-220 packages. These high voltage Schottky diodes are designed for use in power supplies, plasma and LCD televisions, and many other consumer and automotive applications.

EIC has developed these high voltage Schottky devices with the aim of simplifying system design and offering better and more cost-effective solutions. The new Schottkys outperform traditionally used standard ultrafast and soft recovery ultrafast diodes. They are specifically designed for use in high frequency switching power supplies, blocking up to 200 volts and offering excellent Schottky performance at frequencies from 250 kHz to 5.0 MHz. Diode losses are also lower when compared to FREDs; allowing designers to use 200V Schottkys to replace FREDs as output rectifiers in high-power applications, 48V telecom rectifiers, dc/dc converters and as free-wheeling or anti-parallel diodes in low-voltage converters.

The 120 - 200V rectifiers extend the range of over 350 Schottkys currently on offer from EIC, which cover 20-100V, 0.7 to 40A, and are available in a variety of axial and surface mount packages. All these products exhibit low forward voltage drop characteristics and high switching speeds associated with the Schottky structure. The addition of the new high voltage devices allow Schottky rectifiers to be used in the growing number of 150V - 250V appications including automotive body electronics, plasma television drive circuits and computer power supplies.

EIC’s Range of Zener Diodes extends from 0.25W to 5W



EIC Semi Ltd offer over 4000 different Zener Diodes, covering Zener voltages up to 200V and power up to 5W. All products meet the company’s strict criteria for high quality and reliability, and are RoHS compliant as standard. With one of the industry’s widest selections of diodes, EIC is able to give engineers the choice of a second source to the products from many other manufacturers.

In addition to the industry standard BZX ranges of low to medium power Zener Diodes; EIC are also committed to supporting the higher power families, such as the 3W BZG family that is no longer available from some other companies. Despite the evolution of regulator ICs for power supply outputs, EIC has recognised the continuing need for high power zeners. The company is focused on designing and producing a full range of 2W, 3W and 5W types used in a variety of applications. These higher power discrete zeners provide optimum versatility with significant levels of dc and transient power capability compared to those designed into application specific integrated circuits.

EIC produces a variety of packages from standard axial DO-35 and DO41, to small SMA, SMB and SOD-323, together with the cost effective MELF and MiniMELF solutions. The space saving offered by surface mount solutions allow for increased complexity on existing boards, plus faster and more efficient assembly lines.

01.2006 EIC will be opening a new wafer fabrication plant in 2006. The company will produce both Glass Passivated Wafers (Die Size 35-220 mil) and Open Junction Wafers (3-5 inch). These wafers will be used to support the manufacture of EIC’s discrete products, and will also be available for resale as separate items. In house wafer manufacture will result in further improvements to end product quality and reliability, which are key focus areas for EIC. The company will also be less dependent on external suppliers for essential material. Cycle times for new products will be reduced and more product expertise will be developed, allowing EIC to increase it’s competitiveness in the world-wide semiconductor market. This move will allow EIC to have full end-to-end control of manufacturing quality and supply. Research and development will also benefit, resulting in faster development of new technologies and products. The company expects wafer production to start in Q2 2006.

Thailand’s first Wafer Fabrication plant, owned and operated by Electronics Industry Public Company Ltd (EIC), is now in production. During the 1st Quarter of 2006 the following milestones were completed:
1) Machines, equipment and facilities supplied from Germany and Taiwan were installed,
2) An initial team of  20 people were employed,
3) The first production trial for 3" Open Junction and Glass Passivated (GPP) Wafers was completed.
The fab is now producing 1,000 wafers per week, and training for all operators is continuing. By the end of 2006, EIC expects to increase capacity to 30,000 wafers per month.

The wafers are being used to support the following product families from EIC:  TVS/ZENER GPP 2W-5000W 6.8V-220V, and STD GPP 1A-3A 800V-1400V.
